University of Antioquia is the largest public university in the state of Antioquia and the second largest one in Colombia. With around 8000 students and 400 employees, the School of Engineering is the largest school at the University. The School offers 13 undergraduate programs and 12 graduates programs (4 PhD and 8 MSc). The 26 research groups of the school are focused on 6 main areas: materials and nanotechnology, Electronics and ICT (information and communication technologies), Environmental, Industrial Processes, Energy and Biotechnology. Some of the groups participate with other universities and local industries in Innovation Centers with the goal of lowering the gap between industry and academia. International cooperation both at graduate and undergraduate level has become a key feature of the school.
