Abstract

Caching architectures are rarely used in real-time systems today. Task-switch and I/O interrupts disrupt the cache working set and hence make the execution times unpredictable. This paper presents a method to improve the predictability in real-time systems with caches. By using a real-time kernel in hardware it is possible to control the cache activities, and thereby improve the predictability of the real-time system.
