James K. Hazy, Visiting Professor

In addition to his role as Visiting Professor here, Dr.  Hazy is also a tenured Full Professor at Adelphi University in New York State in the USA with eight years of academic experience in research and teaching. Having published over 40 articles and chapters in venues such as The Leadership Quarterly, his work has won numerous awards including Academy of Management Best Paper Awards, and the prestigious Bender Body-of-Work Research Award for the period 2009-2011.   In 2010 he co-wrote the book: Complexity and the Nexus of Leadership: Leveraging nonlinear science to create ecologies of innovation, which achieved Amazon Top-100 status in Management Science in both hardback and paperback editions.  He has also co-edited the books: Complex Systems Leadership Theory and Complexity Science and Social Entrepreneurship: Adding Social Value through Systems Thinking. His teaching experience includes: entrepreneurship, strategy, operations, and leadership delivered to undergraduate and graduate students as well as executives.

Prior to joining the academy, Dr. Hazy served in industry for over 20 years including a variety of executive positions.  His prior responsibilities include EVP Business Operations at Ernst & Young’s eLearning business and FVP Financial Planning & Analysis at AT&T. He currently serves on boards of directors including the international Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries International, a $4 billion social enterprise that repurposes donated goods in order to provide employment training and placement services to over one million marginalized citizens every year, where he also serves as international Treasurer and member of the Executive Committee

He received his doctorate with "distinguished honors" in Human Resource Development from The George Washington University and an MBA in finance "with distinction" from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  His Undergraduate degree is in mathematics from Haverford College, Haverford, PA.
