The research is organized in two mutually supportive research profiles â€“ MÃ¤lardalen Real-Time Research Centre (MRTC) and Intelligent Sensor Systems (ISS). <o:p></o:p>MÃ¤lardalen Real-Time research Centre (MRTC) was formally established January 1st 1999 as the result of a profile grant from the KK-foundation (KKS) and a focused effort on real-time related research since 1987 at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (IDt). <o:p></o:p>The profile Intelligent Sensor Systems (ISS) has its origin from several years of collaboration between the participating research groups. In 2005 the faculty board decided to grant ISS status as an emerging profile and as such also receive dedicated funding. <o:p></o:p>This report presents the organisation, projects and achievements of IDE in 2006, with the following high-lights:<o:p></o:p><![if !supportLists]>Â· <![endif]>7 Ph.D. theses were successfully defended by Thomas Nolte, Gordana Dodig Crnkovic, <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Rikard</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Land</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>, Frank LÃ¼ders, Ali Fard, Krister LandernÃ¤s and Javier Garcia CastaÃ±o.<o:p></o:p><![if !supportLists]>Â· <![endif]>3 Licentiate theses were successfully defended by Kaj HÃ¤nninen, Annika Jonsson and Jonas Neander.<o:p></o:p><![if !supportLists]>Â· <![endif]>14 new Ph.D.-students were enrolled, including 3 industrial PhD students.<o:p></o:p><![if !supportLists]>Â· <![endif]>77 MSc-theses, and 121 publications, many presented at leading conferences world-wide. <o:p></o:p><![if !supportLists]>Â· <![endif]>The strategic centre PROGRESS (supported by SSF) was launched, resulting in recruitment of 9 new PhD students, several postdocs and other senior researchers.<o:p></o:p><![if !supportLists]>Â· <![endif]>Two new professors were appointed: Mikael Nolin in Real-Time Systems, specializing in automotive software, and Paul Pettersson in Real-Time Systems, specializing in modeling and analysis. <o:p></o:p><![if !supportLists]>Â· <![endif]>SSF decided to support the program SAVE with an additional 9.5 mnkr, resulting in an extended program called SAVE++.<o:p></o:p><![if !supportLists]>Â· <![endif]>The two international scientific events were organized at MDH: <a href="http://www.qosa.informatik.uni-oldenburg.de/" target=new>2nd International Conference on </a><a href="http://www.qosa.informatik.uni-oldenburg.de/" target=new>the Quality of Software Architectures</a> (<a href="http://www.qosa.informatik.uni-oldenburg.de/" target=new>QoSA 2006</a>) and <a href="http://www.sei.cmu.edu/pacc/CBSE2006" target=new>the 9th International Symposium on </a><a href="http://www.sei.cmu.edu/pacc/CBSE2006" target=new>Component-Based Software</a> <a href="http://www.sei.cmu.edu/pacc/CBSE2006" target=new>Engineering </a>(<a href="http://www.sei.cmu.edu/pacc/CBSE2006" target=new>CBSE 2006</a>).<o:p></o:p><![if !supportLists]>Â· <![endif]>ISS received four different EU-object-2-projects, resulting in strengthening of the regional cooperation with the industry.<o:p></o:p><![if !supportLists]>Â· <![endif]>ISS was also supported from Robotdalen and Sparbankens Nya for research within robotics and biomedical engineering. <o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p></div></body></html>
