Autonomous sailboat control systems quickly grow in complexity with a variety of factors needed to be taken into account when deciding a course to sail. These factors include the wind condition, the planned route and marine traffic. This paper proposes a voting based mechanism for deciding the appropriate course. The strategy reduces software complexity while combining navigation within a channel with reactive collision avoidance.
